Career Impact
Is supporting the Union going to hurt my career?
Associate Technical Fellow a former SPEEA president
SPEEA Executive Board Secretary and past president Ryan Rule didn’t hide his union leadership experience when applying to become an Associate Technical Fellow (ATF).
In fact, he credits the experience as one of many things that helped him successfully complete the process.
Rule is an electronic systems design and analysis engineer.
“It’s given me opportunities and a different perspective,” Rule said about his SPEEA leadership roles. He gained important public speaking experience and learned about a wide variety of workplace issues and concerns.”
In addition to Executive Board roles, including regional vice president, Rule served on the 2012 and 2016 SPEEA Professional Bargaining Unit Negotiations teams. He’s also served on SPEEA-Boeing joint committees discussing workplace issues with company executives.
Rule is one of two former SPEEA presidents who are current ATFs. Jennifer MacKay, president from 2002 to 2006, is the other ATF at Boeing.
